MTG Arena closed beta has begun! This guide will help you get your spot on the priority access list for participating in the closed beta and best of all, it is completely free!
1) Download Magic Duels
First, you should download Magic Duels. Magic Duels is Wizard’s current digital product that was attempting to fill the niche that Magic Arena will be taking over. Magic Duels will no longer be recieving conent updates while the Wizards digital team focuses on building the best experience possible in MTG Arena. Magic Duels is available for the PC, iOS and XBox platforms. So head on over to your platform of choice and download Magic Duels.
2) Create a Wizards account
Head on over to accounts.wizards.com to create your free Wizards of the Coast account. When you create your Wizards account, you will automatically be assigned a unique DCI number which you can use to enter organized Magic: The Gathering events. This isn’t important to gaining priority beta access, but it may come in handy in the future if Wizards to decide to cross promote Magic Arena during events like Friday Night Magic.
Once you have created your account, you will be required to validate your email within seven days. Check your inbox and click the link in the verification email to finalize your account. Be sure to check your spam or promotions folder if you do not see the email verification email.
3) Link your Duels and Wizards accounts
Now that you have both Magic Duels and a Wizards account, you will need to link them to each other. Simply launch Magic Duels and navigate to the Help & Settings and then Customer Service menu. Here you will see a long string of characters that is your customer ID. Copy this customer ID into the appropriate spot for your platform in your Wizards account dashboard at accounts.wizards.com. As another nice bonus for linking your Duels account you will receive 2,000 coins in Duels.
4) Sign up for the Arena Closed Beta
Finally, it is time to sign up for the MTG Arena beta. Head over to playmtgarena.com and fill out the short sign up form. Be sure to use the email address you used when creating your Wizard’s account so that Wizards can see that your account is linked to your Magic Duels account.
And that is it! You are now signed up for the Magic Arena beta and you should be placed on the priority access list if you have followed all of the steps above. Remember, this doesn’t guarantee that you will be invited into the closed beta, but it should give you the best chance possible of receiving that coveted invitation.
